SF Media Data Systems is a trading name of SF MEDIA (SW) LTD, a company formed to solve a narrow problem well: how media organisations keep track of what they hold. We design, build and maintain metadata management systems for broadcasters, production companies, archives and streaming services. Our work sits between the media asset management platform and the people who use it every day.
Our systems catalogue video, audio, images and documents, applying consistent schemas so that a clip shot in one department can be found by another. We handle ingest workflows, controlled vocabularies, rights and usage fields, versioning, and the audit trails that regulators and rights holders ask for. Everything we build is documented, tested and handed over with training, so clients are not dependent on us to run their own catalogues.
Much of our work begins with an audit. We look at how content is currently described, where the gaps are, and what the business actually needs to retrieve. From there we agree a metadata model, migrate existing records where possible, and integrate with the systems already in place. We prefer incremental change to large replacement projects, because it keeps operations running while the catalogue improves.
We are a small, technical team. That means clients speak directly to the people who configure and write the system, not to an account layer. It also means we take on a limited number of projects at a time, and we say so when a brief is outside our scope. The result is work that is properly finished rather than merely delivered.
The company operates from the south-west of England and works with clients across the UK and further afield. Our engagement model is straightforward: a fixed scope, a named lead, and regular review points. If you would like to discuss a catalogue, a migration or an integration, the contact page explains how to reach us.
